Department of Orthopaedic Surgery

Welcome -- Dr. Ines Lohse!

Drs. MaCalus Hogan, Kurt Weiss, and James Wang are happy to announce the recruitment of Ines Lohse, PhD, to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Lohse will join our Department effective January 1, 2023 as a Research Assistant Professor and Co-Director of the Musculoskeletal Oncology Laboratory.

Dr. Lohse earned her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biotechnology from the University of Lubeck in Germany. She subsequently performed her Masters (Molecular and Cell Biology) and PhD (Cancer Biology) work at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. She did post-doctoral oncology research fellowships at the University of Michigan and the University of Toronto Princess Margaret Cancer Center. For the past six years Dr. Lohse has been at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. There she developed her passion for pediatric malignancies, specifically osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma. She has done pioneering work in drug discovery and repurposing for pediatric malignancy and appears on over forty peer-reviewed manuscripts, many as first author.

In addition to these outstanding credentials, Dr. Lohse has been the recipient of many research awards. She is passionate about the training of young scientists and will be an excellent addition to our Department’s commitment to student and resident education.
