Dr. Rocky Tuan receives major grant award for organ research in space

Dr. Rocky Tuan and his research group will receive a major grant award from The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) for the Bone/Cartilage-on-a-Chip Project for the International Space Station submission.  Two research groups will share $1 million in grant funding awarded by CASIS. The proposed project is “A Microphysiological 3D Organotypic Culture System for Studying Degradation and Repair of Composite Skeletal Tissues in Microgravity Environment.”

The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) has been tasked with managing and promoting research onboard the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory. The awards are part of the "3D Microphysiological Systems for Organs-On-Chips Grand Challenge" and were announced at the White House Organ Summit on June 13, 2016.
