Dr. James Kang to receive 2016 McEllroy Award

The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Medical Alumni Association will honor Dr. James D. Kang with the 2016 William S. McEllroy Award on Friday, September 23, 2016. This prestigious award recognizes a former resident of the University for their outstanding achievements and distinguished performance.

This prestigious award recognizes a former resident of the University for their outstanding achievements and distinguished performance.  A distinguished scientist, surgeon, clinician, and scholar, Dr. Kang was nominated by Dr. Freddie Fu and was chosen for the Award from numerous outstanding nominations.

James D. Kang, MD, is currently the Thornhill Family Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Harvard Medical School, and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He previously served as Professor of Orthopaedic and Neurological Surgery, UPMC Endowed Chair in Orthopaedic Spinal Surgery, Director of Ferguson Laboratory Musculoskeletal Research Center for Spine Research, and Executive Vice Chairman for Clinical Services at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC.
